Real Madrid will considering signing Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold in the January transfer window, but only if it is for well below his market value.
That’s according to ABC, who say the Spanish side are in no hurry to sign the England international for a fee given he is available on a free next summer.
Reports linking Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid have increased rapidly over the last week, with reports that the Spanish giants have already contacted the player and that he’s accepted the idea of leaving Liverpool for them.
That was disputed somewhat yesterday as it was explained Real Madrid have only contacted Alexander-Arnold’s brother, his agent, to ask to be informed of their movements in the near future.
That’s because they want to know if Liverpool offer him a new contract and to present their own proposal before Alexander-Arnold potentially signed a new deal at Anfield.
ABC now say the 26-year-old ‘has in mind’ to leave Liverpool and because of that he is an option Real Madrid ‘seriously considers’. They’re only keen on him if he arrives on a free next summer, though.
Any operation would only be considered in the January transfer window if the price was in line with a player whose contract expires in six months’ time. In other words, far before his current market value.
Liverpool are unlikely to offer up any discounts but there will come a time when they will have to decide whether it is better to get money for Alexander-Arnold or let him leave on a free transfer.
That’s a decision they’re yet to make, it seems but will have to do so soon as Real Madrid linger and eye up a transfer opportunity.
