Brandon Aguilera has told the Costa Rican media that he needs to show his potential more after he Nottingham Forest chance slipped away and his national career stuttered again.

This summer the 21-year-old left the City Ground after failing to break into the Nottingham Forest first team.

Speaking to La Nación, Aguilera was asked about his failures at the various clubs he played for in recent years and his difficulty with holding down a regular place in the national team.

The youngster said he knows he needs to give more and that expectations are high for him.

“I am the first to recognise that I can give much more. People who know my potential know that I have more to show. The demand in the national team is not only for me; All the players here are measured by the same yardstick, whether we have one game or 100. The fans, the press and we set high expectations,” said the ex-Forest player.

Aguilera signed for Nottingham Forest from Liga Deportiva Alajuelense in 2022, but he struggled in his time in England. He made just one Premier League appearance for the club and last season was loaned out to Bristol Rovers.

With his lack of opportunities he was sold to Rio Ave in the summer transfer window and has gone to play three league games for the Portuguese side in this campaign.
