Tottenham assistant manager Ryan Mason is a candidate for Anderlecht after Mark van Bommel dropped out of the running.

That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who report that it is now a race between the Tottenham man and Serbian Vladimir Ivic.

The newspaper reports that Mason is ‘clearly in the picture’ to become Anderlecht’s new manager following the dismissal of Brian Riemer.

The Belgian side are currently debating between him and Ivic and there is a distinct possibility the Tottenham man will end up as their head coach.

Mason is currently assistant manager to Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham after various roles with them since his retirement in 2018.

He’s been manager of the youth side, head of academy coaching, interim manager, a role which made him the youngest ever manager in the history of the Premier League, technical coach and now assistant manager.

He’s yet to step into management on his own despite brief spells as caretaker manager at Tottenham but Anderlecht would seemingly be considering him as an option.

He is ‘highly regarded among trainers’ according to HLN and that is why Anderlecht are considering him. A move there would even see him reunite with former Spurs teammate Jan Vertonghen, who moved to the club in September 2022.
