Rangers take on Malmö FF in the Europa League on Thursday evening. Philippe Clement’s side will be looking to pick up all three points in Sweden.
Sveriges Radio report UEFA classifies the tie between Rangers and Malmö in Eleda Stadion as a ‘high-risk match’. That’s due to two main reasons.
Rangers are allocated 1,000 tickets for their supporters. The report explains that there are concerns Rangers fans could buy tickets in the home section.
In addition to this, there’s also the possibility of Malmö’s local rivals, Helsingborgs IF, buying tickets for the midweek European clash. This concern had already been raised by the Swedish club’s head of security, Peter Narbe, on Wednesday.
These factors make today’s Europa League tie between Philippe Clement’s side and Malmö ‘high-risk’.
Malmö have come out on top the last two times these sides faced each other. The Swedish club’s official X [formerly known as Twitter] account pointed this out through a video this week.
In the pre-match press conference, Malmö manager Henrik Rydström said he sees “no problem” with this specific post, despite it annoying some Rangers fans.
