Palmeiras rejected West Ham United’s approach for Richard Ríos in the summer window, according to multiple claims from Brazil.

On Monday, the Brazilian club announced that the midfielder has extended his deal until December 2028.

Globo Esporte covered this news and talked about West Ham’s failure to sign the 24-year-old.

His earlier deal lasted until the end of 2026. Ríos’ displays for Colombia at the Copa América had caught attention of West Ham and other clubs.

It’s claimed the Hammers were the ‘most interested’ team, but the South American club refused to negotiate a deal.

Bolvaip in Brazil also covered the Premier League side’s failed approach for the player in the last window.

It’s claimed Palmeiras have rejected ‘two large offers’ from Julen Lopetegui’s side and Lyon last month.

With regards to West Ham, the report states they offered a fee between €22m and €25m. The Brazilian club had ‘warned’ the player’s interested parties and several people close to him that they wouldn’t negotiate his sale in the summer window.

The Colombia international’s renewal will make it more difficult for West Ham to carry out a possible deal in the upcoming windows. Ríos has made 40 appearances for Palmeiras this year.
