Polish journalist Mateusz Borek has questioned why Jakub Moder has been called up to the latest Poland national squad following his struggles with Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 25-year-old midfielder has yet to feature for the Seagulls this season.
Speaking to Wprost Sport, Borek was asked about Moder’s club situation and whether it was justified he was called up for his country’s Nation League ties against Scotland and Croatia.
Borek said he’s always been a fan of the Brighton player, but with the lack of games he’s been getting this season he believes his inclusion in the squad may have been partly based on sympathy.
Last night Moder got his first minutes since Euro 2024 when he came on as a late substitute for Piotr Zieliński during Poland’s 3-2 victory over Scotland.
He made 19 appearances for Brighton last season, but he’s failed to convince new manager Fabian Huerzeler to start him.
Moder is contracted to the club until next summer.
