When there’s a job available in the Bundesliga, it’s now a pretty safe bet that David Wagner will be linked with it.
The Huddersfield Town boss has taken his club to the brink of Premier League promotion, battling against Reading in the play-off final, and the more coverage Wagner gets in England, the more desire there seems to be to get him back to Germany.
Just before Christmas, Wagner was linked to Wolfsburg, with the manager later confirming there was something, but not much, in it. The job didn’t look all too attractive despite Wolfsburg being a huge club.
On Wednesday, Bild link Wagner with the Bayer Leverkusen job. The German club had a slightly less disastrous season than Wolfsburg, and Wagner has made a three man shortlist.
Joining him are Ajax’s Peter Bosz and Dortmund’s Thomas Tuchel. Coincidentally, Wagner has also been linked with taking over from Tuchel, who seems to have upset too many people at BVB.
This will all continue until Wagner eventually leaves Huddersfield for a Bundesliga club.
