Celtic striker Rocca Vata is a potential target for Palermo when his contract with Brendan Rodgers’ side comes to an end this month.

That’s according to Giornale di Sicilia, relayed by Goal Sicilia, and Corriere dello Sport, relayed by Tifosi Palermo.

Giornale simply report that Palermo are looking around at the market for a new striker as they look to strengthen their options for next season. They like a number of potential options and have been following Vata at Celtic.

His contract with the Scottish champions is set to expire at the end of this month, leaving him as a free agent, and that’s interesting the Italian side.

Corriere provide more detail on the potential move, explaining that the Celtic man has been added to the list of options for Palermo as he gears up to leave Celtic Park.

They explain that the Italian side’s philosophy is to look for young players who can be developed but also used immediately.

There is also a desire to find players who can be used in the wider City Football Group network and Vata would fit into that. He was already a target in January, and they’ve continued to watch him since.

The fact that he’s set to be a free agent as his agent’s have rejected a renewal proposal from Celtic, makes the idea all the more attractive, although any deal is only in the survey phase at this point.
