While enjoying some time off in Brazil, Nottingham Forest defender Murillo took part in the Os Donos Da Bola show this week.
Despite a positive first season with the Reds, the centre-back ended up out of the Copa America squad, as the competition for a place in defence was so big.
Murillo talked a little about that, insisting he’ll continue to do his best at Nottingham Forest so he can be with the national team one day.
“As we play and develop, we get it into our heads that we can now fight. But for me, it’s cool. It’s a consequence of hard work,” said Murillo.
“There was one time, when Diniz was coach. Pablo, a Corinthians employee, said to me: ‘Did you know you’re on the shortlist for the national team?’ I said I didn’t know anything. Even Gonzalo [Montiel] told me about it.”
Now with Nottingham Forest said to be close to signing Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, they couldn’t avoid asking Murillo about his former teammate joining him at the City Ground. The centre-back, however, insisted he’s not aware of the negotiations.
“No-one has said anything yet. I don’t know anything yet.”
Nottingham Forest only spent €12m to sign Murillo from Corinthians last summer. The defender was quick to show his abilities in the Premier League, and is now valued by Transfermarkt at €35m.
