Pushed to one side since the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, the future of Kelechi Iheanacho is being followed closely in Nigeria, or more precisely by OwnGoalNigeria.
The German club want to young striker to join their ranks next season, and a loan deal has reportedly been agreed between the two sides.
However, there is still some way to go before anything gets announced because certain details are still causing a rift between the two sides.
OwnGoalNigeria reveal that Hoffenheim are keen on adding an optional buy-out clause in the loan deal in case Iheanacho has a successful season in the Bundesliga, but Manchester City are refusing to comply.
The argument here would be that if the 21-year-old shines over the course of the 2017/18 campaign, having no pre-agreed fee in the deal would leave Pep Guardiola and co. in a very good negotiating position, being able to come up with their own valuation of the player rather than being restrained to an amount that seemed fair after this season.
It certainly seems that Iheanacho’s future, at least short-term, is away from the Etihad.
