There’s no doubt that Geoffrey Kondogbia is a talented footballer.
After all, the 24-year-old showed exactly what he is capable of providing during his time at AS Monaco, but many felt his £30m move to Inter Milan was very premature, and they were right.
The midfielder has failed to settle in at the Serie A club, and his performances have been rather sub-par, exemplified by his sending off against Genoa at the weekend.
Back in early April, we covered an article from TuttoMercatoWeb claiming that Tottenham were scouting both Kondogbia and Jeison Murillo when a representative was spotted in the crowd in a game against Sampdoria.
Our bottom line that day was that they were far more likely to be there for Patrik Schick, Sampdoria’s talented striker, instead.
That isn’t to say Kondogbia shouldn’t be worthy of Mauricio Pochettino’s interest, but his time in Italy has certainly put a dent in his reputation.
So much so, in fact, that on Friday, Calciomercato are reporting that Inter Milan’s new owners have decided the French midfielder should be sold in the summer.
Kondogbia joins the likes of Marcelo Brozovic, Ever Banega, and Miranda on the club’s transfer list, which means he could be available at a cut price.
With three years left on his current deal, Inter Milan will want to get a chunk of their initial expenditure back, yet if Suning are trying to get rid of him that badly, there might be an opportunity for someone like Tottenham to pick him up and help rediscover his confidence.
