Former Bayern Munich manager Ottmar Hitzfeld has told the German media Stuttgart playmaker Alexandru Maxim needs to have freedom to get the best out of him.
Maxim earlier in the season found himself sidelined by Stuttgart boss Hannes Wolf supposedly due to his work rate, and subsequently he’s been linked with a move to Leeds United.
“The VfB has no Messi or Ronaldo who have all the freedom. But Maxim can use his qualities to decide a game, make the difference. On the other hand, you need a few small freedoms,” said the Bayern Munich legend on the Leeds United target.
During the last window Maxim’s agent confirmed he held initial talks with Leeds United over a possible move to the Championship side. At the time only Leeds United and Club America were showing an interest, but more clubs are expected to join the race in the summer.
Maxim is a player that has caught the attention of Garry Monk in the past, and the Leeds United boss tried to sign the attacking midfielder when in charge of Swansea City.
