The executive director of Ufa has told the Ukrainian media Manchester City wasn’t the biggest club they spoke to with regards to Oleksandr Zinchenko. The 19-year-old recently joined Manchester City after being chased by a number of European clubs.

Ukraine Football have reported on comments Shamil Gazizov made with regards to Zinchenko joining Manchester City this month. Gazizov confirmed they were in talks with other clubs besides the Premier League side, and that some of these were major clubs.

However, Gazizov said he had to respect the wishes of the young midfielder, and therefore let the player make a decision on his future.

“We were negotiating with other clubs. I would say that Manchester City is not even the biggest club that we spoke with. Sasha choose his option and we went with the player to show others that we represent not only the interests of the club, but all participants in the process,” said the Ufa chief.

Zinchenko recently joined Manchester City despite only having one season with his former club Ufa. Despite his age the youngster has already represented his country 6 times, and was part of the squad for the Euros.
