Aston Villa are leading the race for Lille star Jonathan David with Manchester United having also shown interest, according to claims from Italy.
With Serie A sides recently linked to the 24-year-old, outlet TuttoMercatoWeb today explains how the English interest in the player is a ‘danger’ for Italian clubs.
It’s said both Aston Villa and Manchester United want to take David to the Premier League, and it’s really the Villans who seem to have an advantage.
TuttoMercatoWeb writes that Unai Emery’s side are ‘on pole’ for the Canadian, as they’re looking to sign a ‘top centre-forward’ for next season.
Behind Aston Villa come Manchester United, who made contact in recent weeks, as they’re expected to conduct another ‘revolution’ at the club this summer.
David’s price tag is said to be €35m, and the big reason Lille can’t demand more is that his contract expires at the end of next season, with no chance for a renewal.
The striker has 24 goals and eight assists in 44 appearances for the French side this season. Clubs such as AC Milan and Napoli aren also said to be interested, but it’s unlikely they’d be able to fight Aston Villa and Manchester United in that battle.
