At Queens Park Rangers for three years after arriving from Brentford on a free transfer, Yoann Barbet left the club in 2022 to sign for Girondins de Bordeaux.
The club, now in Ligue 2, have appointed him as the team captain, which is a role he is familiar with, having worn the armband a number of times at Loftus Road Stadium during his time with the Championship side.
The centre-back spoke about his time at QPR and the difference between being captain in various teams with the league’s website, and explained the situation that led to him leading his team out a number of times.
QPR remain the club he has played the most for, having done so three more times than he did with Brentford despite staying there four years.
Barbet also admitted in the interview ‘adoring’ what Lee Wallace was like as a captain at the club, having learned a lot from him, especially after the career he had had with Rangers in Scotland.
He said: “He was someone very positive, who had infinite knowledge about football. I learned a ton from him.”
