Turkish side Besiktas are reportedly working to find a deal to sign Juan Mata from Manchester United.
According to local outlet Milliyet, the club are looking for an advanced midfielder and the Spaniard is the number one target.
It’s claimed that José Mourinho doesn’t have Mata on his plans for next season, which would make a departure easier. However, that was claimed repeatedly before Mourinho even arrived at Old Trafford, and Mata has proven to be a much used player.
In another article, it’s also claimed Brazilian midfielder Anderson Talisca could be included in the deal. As Manchester United have been linked to the player, this is quite an obvious assumption to make.
But Talisca actually belongs to Benfica, and although Besiktas have a €25m buying option over him, it sounds quite confusing to include the player in such a transfer.
Besiktas don’t even the funds, or FFP wriggle room, to sign Anderson Talisca for €25m, so how they’d fund a Juan Mata transfer is a mystery.
