Newcastle United and West Ham United are today again named in the race for VfB Suttgart star Serhou Guirassy.
The update comes from Italian outlet Calciomercato, who are paying big attention to this battle because of AC Milan’s interest in the player for the January transfer window.
It’s claimed that even though the Rossoneri are well convinced of investing in his signing, they shall have the English competition from Newcastle and West Ham to deal with, among likely others.
The outlet claims there’s the ‘risk’ that this may end up in an ‘auction’ to see who can offer him the ‘biggest payday’.
Milan, Newcastle and West Ham shouldn’t battle for the highest fee, though, as Guirassy has a €17.5m release clause at Stuttgart, preventing the price of going beyond that.
What clubs need to do at this stage is to convince the striker that they would be the right choice for him.
It’s believed there’s been an ‘opening’ for the Rossoneri, and the Serie A side would now have an ‘advantageous position’ in the race, so it should now be up to the Magpies and the Hammers to show their cards on the table, and potentially offer more than their Italian competitors.
