The Argentine media this week reports Arsenal’s interest in River Plate youngster Agustin Roberto.
The news comes from outlet El Crack Deportivo, who features a story on some talents from the Buenos Aires side who’ve been drawing attention from European clubs.
It’s said Arsenal are keen on the 17-year-old, and River Plate president Jorge Brito is ‘on alert’ about the Gunners’ chase.
The story claims that even though the Argentine club don’t want to lose the player, they’re ‘attentive’ to a potential offer from Mikel Arteta’s side.
We must just point out that El Crack Deportivo is not among the most traditional sources in the South American country, so we should perhaps wait for more reliable stories before buying those claims.
Agustin Roberto is still part of River Plate’s youth ranks, as well as Argentina’s and is still to make his professional debut.
The winger had a great record in the U-17 World Cup this year, with eight goals in six matches, and that’s where he may have drawn interest from Arsenal and other European sides.
