Italy manager Luciano Spalletti has confirmed that Arsenal midfielder Jorginho should be used in ther international break.
Even though the player picked up a head injury in the Gunners’ match against Burnley at the weekend, he’s expected to feature for the national team in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Spalletti said there’ll be some special care given to his situation.
“Jorginho has stitches in his head from the last game and we have to be very careful, but we need his feet.”
Italy are currently 3rd in Group C, and are in desperate need of wins against North Macedonia and Ukraine. This isn’t the situation a manager would leave a player resting unless he’s completely ruled out, and that doesn’t seem to be Jorginho’s situation.
The midfielder captained Arsenal in their last couple of games and is set to have big importance for Italy in such decisive matches.
With the weekend’s win, the Gunners now stand third in the Premier League, just one point behind Manchester City, who are top of the table. Their next challenge is against Brentford away on the 25h of November.
