West Brom are once again on the list of clubs who had an official present at the Estádio da Luz, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
This time, they saw a 3-3 Benfica draw with Estoril which qualified the Lisbon club for the cup final. After getting a 2-1 away win, Benfica had to struggle more than they planned to, and Estoril almost managed to get the spot.
West Brom have been regularly watching games in Portugal, but their target is still not clear.
From the players who could have impressed the Baggies last night, there’s certainly Bruno Gomes.
The young striker scored two goals and made an assist, playing practically as a lone fighter in Estoril’s attack. Midfielder Carlinhos has also done a good job by creating chances and scoring one of the goals.
On Benfica’s side, the pair of wingers were the players who stood out. André Carrillo and Andrija Zivkovic scored one goal each and were constant threats to Estoril’s defence.
Apart from Zivkovic, we’d say the other three players are all achievable targets for West Brom in the summer. But we’re obviously just speculating here, as the Baggies are clearly up to something in Portugal and should start making their moves soon.
