With Celtic set to take on Lazio in the Champions League this evening, the Italian press has been working hard to cover every angle possible.

That means everyone applicable is being spoken to ahead of the game and the latest to chime in is former Rangers striker Marco Negri.

He knows all about Celtic, having enjoyed plenty of success against them after joining Rangers from Perugia in a €4m deal in 1997.

He spent the next four years at Ibrox, with his first season seeing him bag 23 goals in his first ten league games, including his side’s only goal in a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park.

That was one of several appearance against the club’s fierce rivals during his time at the club, meaning he is well aware of the club and their strengths.

One of them, according to him, is their stadium Celtic Park, a place where he suffered on more than one occasion and believes could be used to their advantage again when Lazio visit this evening.

“A physical and technical training at the same time,” the former Rangers man responded when asked why type of team Celtic are.

“Their strength is paradoxically the same as Lazio’s: the attacking midfield. Individual duels will be decisive.

“In my opinion, I may be banal, but the stadium factor will have a huge influence. Celtic have a crowd that pushes very hard. It won’t be easy.

“Lazio must focus on the wingers as much as possible. Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson are called to work overtime. As I said before, individual duels will be decisive.”
