Real Sociedad are focusing on signing Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to reports from Spain.
Outlet Noticias De Gipuzkoa writes that the player is their ‘preferred option’ in the summer window, and they recall their original article from end of July on the matter.
Real Sociedad had also been interested in Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney, but with Mikel Arteta blocking his exit, it’s the Tottenham player who becomes the only target for the position, and that continues to be the case two weeks on.
The Spanish club’s intention would be to sign Reguilon on a loan deal with an option to buy. Other stories from the local media say they already have a deal with the player, and now need the approval from Spurs.
The fullback spent the last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, where he only made 12 appearances in one year. Now he doesn’t seem to be in Tottenham’s plans either, as he wasn’t used in the Premier League’s opening round against Brentford.
Reguilon still has a contract with Spurs running until 2025, so the club may prefer a permanent exit for him.
He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at just €10m, despite the €30m spent to sign him from Real Madrid in 2020.
