Hull City owner Acun Ilıcalı has insisted midfielder Ozan Tufan will not be leaving the club this summer amid reported interest from Beşiktaş.

The businessman has been speaking at his club’s current training camp in Türkiye, with his comments covered by Fanatik.

Among various topics he was questioned on, transfers were naturally at the top of the agenda now that the summer window is open and starting to heat up.

Alongside incomings there have been reports of a potential major departure from the club this summer, with midfielder Ozan Tufan linked to a potential move back to his homeland with Beşiktaş.

The Türkiye midfielder has been a key player since a €3m move from Fenerbahce last summer, managing eight goals in 44 games for the Championship side last season.

He’s very much a firm fan favourite and any departure would be a major blow to Ilıcalı and his plans for Hull moving forwards.

It seems that is not in the pipeline, though, at least according to Ilıcalı, who believes the 28-year-old is very much focused on his side.

“Beşiktaş is a very important club for me. Their value is always great for me. Ozan Tufan is also a valuable player. He would normally go to Beşiktaş. I think so,” he said.

“We provided Ozan with a nice environment in England. The fans sing songs for him. He also dreams of the Premier League. He is concentrating on that.

“It’s not that he doesn’t prefer Beşiktaş, he doesn’t want to return to Türkiye. He is very happy in England. This year is a very special year for us.

“He loves our coach very much. There is a brotherly relationship between them. He will stay at Hull City.”
