Brazil were crowned the Champions of the 2017 U17 South American Championship last night. With a 5-0 win over Chile, the Seleção managed to win the tournament without losing any games, and now have a place in the World Cup later this year.
The big name in the final was Alan Guimarães, who scored a hat-trick and also finished the tournament as the player with most assists.
Sport Witness have learned that Manchester United scouts were at the tournament, and after last night, they have only confirmed the good reports they had about the player.
José Mourinho has been forming a strong scouting network in South America with professionals who have been watching Alan for years, and after this tournament, the player shall be suggested to the club.
But Alan is currently committed to Palmeiras on a deal until 2019 and has a €50m release clause. The Brazilian club don’t have any intention to sell him so soon, so a reasonable deal would only be found in the future.
Besides Alan, there are many other talents who took part in the tournament and the scouts should be aware about. This includes Vinícius Junior, who was the tournament’s top scorer with seven goals.
He’s also been linked to Manchester United earlier this year, although the strongest claims have been saying Barcelona and Real Madrid are those who will fight for him in the future.
