Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne is nothing more than a ‘resentful cry-baby’ who has let the admiration for him go to his head.
That’s according to journalist Niko Dijkshoorn, who believes the player’s attitude has changed from what it used to be.
De Bruyne remains the star man in this Manchester City team, continuing to impress despite the arrival of other big names such as Erling Haaland.
He has been in fine form again this season with seven goals and 25 assists in all competitions to his name so far and more likely to follow before the campaign is over.
However, the emergence of other talent and options in the Manchester City squad has led to a changing role in the team this season, with Pep Guardiola electing to change things around on more than one occasion.
That was certainly the case in the recent win over Bayern Munich, when De Bruyne was substituted off in the second half.
That prompted an angry response from the player, who clearly did not agree with the choice from his coach and demonstrated as much.
The incident has been quickly brushed over and ignored, with some even criticising Guardiola, but Dijkshoorn is having none of that.
“De Bruyne has indeed changed,” he wrote.
“Maybe the permanent admiration has made him believe himself to be special. Now KDB has turned into a resentful cry-baby. It seems he has really started to believe he is a gift.”
