Former Leeds United winger Harry Kewell has selected Lee Bowyer in his all-time best eleven. The two players were teammates at Leeds United during the club’s time in the Premier League.

Asked by FourFourTwo to pick his perfect eleven with players he played with during his career, Kewell chose Bowyer in his midfield three, alongside Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard, and Leeds United’s David Batty.

The Australian said he played with midfielders who could get around the pitch, and Bowyer was one of those that fell into this category. Kewell believes Bowyer was a player that could make runs into the box to score goals because he had the determination to do so.

“There are only a couple of players I know who could make box-to-box runs, but also sneak into certain positions where they weren’t picked up and score goals – Lee was one of them,” said the former Leeds United star.

Kewell and Bowyer were key members in Leeds United’s successful side, which reached the Champions League semi-final in 2001. However, due to financial problems at the club the squad was broken up with Kewell joining Liverpool, whilst Bowyer signed for Newcastle United.
