Over the past few months, we’ve seen Newcastle United linked numerous times with a move for Sergej Milinković-Savić.
The Serbia international will enter the last year of his contract in the summer, meaning an exit is more than likely so that Lazio can make some money.
Corriere dello Sport look at the situation on Thursday, and it’s recalled within the article that Newcastle have been mentioned alongside the midfielder a few times.
Whether he wants to join them remains to be seen, but what is great news for the Magpies is that he’s definitely affordable.
His agent, Mateja Kezman, is currently on a mission to get €40m offers in for Lazio, which is proving a bit harder than first anticipated.
The fear is that Premier League sides will only offer €20-25m, at a push €30m, for the midfielder, knowing that he could be available on a free.
Therefore, if Newcastle really want him, they simply have to put €40m on the table to get their bid accepted.
What happens after that, of course, is up to the 28-year-old himself and whether Eddie Howe and his negotiating men can convince him that a move to St James’ Park would be best for his career.
