Tottenham Hotspur’s wait for silverware will continue beyond this season following their Champions League exit on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte’s side were unable to overcome a 1-0 deficit as the second leg at home ended in a 0-0 draw. This was sufficient for the Serie A side to seal a berth in the quarter-final.

Richarlison was unhappy with the manager for leaving him out of the starting XI and lashed out at Conte. He also expressed his disappointment over Tottenham’s poor display against the Rossoneri.

The Brazil international isn’t the only Spurs player to be critical of their performance in the European fixture as he’s now joined by Clément Lenglet. C More interviewed the defender on loan from Barcelona, who started both legs, and asked him why Tottenham crashed out.

“We had some opportunities and we didn’t score, so that’s the first explanation. We have to create more, be more ambitious with the ball and try to put more pressure in the box to create something. Maybe we didn’t create enough to win and score in both games. When you don’t score in the Champions League,” he said, relayed by Fotbollskanalen.

The Frenchman has refused to blame only the Tottenham attackers for their failure to progress further in the Champions League.

“Football is not just about three players. We are eleven on the field and players come in from the bench, so we have to give more. It is difficult for me to explain more. When you’re a player you want to win, and I think you also want to win when you’re playing football. We don’t transfer responsibility to one or three players, we have to give more. Everyone has to try to get better,” Lenglet explained.

The centre-back was quizzed about Harry Kane exit rumours. Responding to that, he said: “You can ask Harry. I’m not in a good position to talk about it. You are never happy when you lose.”
