With Stuttgart currently in a relegation battle in the Bundesliga, it appears Nottingham Forest could get a second chance at signing Konstantinos Mavropanos.
The Greek defender, according to Kicker, was a target for the Tricky Trees during the January transfer window, with it said the Premier League side ‘wanted to invest €20m’ in the former Arsenal man.
There’s no denying that Nottingham Forest would have to avoid relegation themselves to be able to pull this off, but the German outlet explain that with a return to 2.Bundesliga right around the corner, three of their star defenders could leave.
Already struggling against the drop, they didn’t want to weaken themselves further, but it doesn’t appear to have mattered much, such was their performance at the weekend against Schalke 04.
While there is still time for them to turn things around, as they are 15th, only above the relegation zone on goal difference, the current trend isn’t in their favour, and losing to team in rock bottom certainly won’t have improved morale.
Therefore, this is a situation Nottingham Forest should be keeping a close eye on, with Steve Cooper’s side currently 13th in the Premier League, four points clear of Everton in 18th.
