Jesus Navas has made 14 Premier League appearances for Manchester City so far this season, but with them he’s only accumulated 507 minutes. Pep Guardiola clearly doesn’t heavily rely on the Spaniard and that would ordinarily raise questions about the footballer’s future.
As part of a sponsor event for New Balance, Navas travelled to London where Spanish newspaper Marca had someone waiting to interview him.
The questions came around to the player’s future, and Marca wanted to know if Navas sees himself in the Premier League next season: “Uff, I focus right now on the present, in trying to do things with my team. I do not think about anything else.”
Marca then informed Navas that Sevilla would very much like to sign him: “Yes, but I must be calm and do things right for the remainder of the season.”
Navas probably knows more than he’s letting on. Free to talk with other clubs, it would be no surprise if Sevilla have been in touch with the Manchester City player. A free signing, and a homegrown hero returning home, Navas to Sevilla makes sense on several levels.
