Bryan Gil’s ‘intention’ is to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window as he wants regular playing time in the second half of this season.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover Sevilla’s interest in the player today as they continue to be linked with a move.
The newspaper reports that Gil is ‘set to be one of the big names’ in the window next month as the forward is working on a possible return to La Liga following his loan spell at Valencia last season.
He is ‘yet to make an impact’ at Tottenham this season, having managed just 73 minutes of action under Antonio Conte so far.
That ‘meagre participation’ has pushed Gil to look for a loan deal again, and his ‘priority’ is to return to Spain.
He has no shortage of suitors in La Liga, where Valencia would be happy to renew their relationship after a successful loan spell last season. Indeed, manager Gennaro Gattuso requested that the club sign him in the summer.
They eventually went for Justin Kluivert and while he has been a success, they’ve kept an eye on the Tottenham man ahead of next month’s window.
They’re not his only option, though, with Cádiz CF also interested after sounding him out last season and offering him a return to his former club. Then there is Real Sociedad and Sevilla, the latter the team he left for Tottenham.
Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli is a big fan of the Spaniard, recently admitting he wouldn’t have sanctioned that sale if he had been in charge of the club at the time. He was also keen on signing him during his time at Marseille.
He wants to be reunited with the player and Gil has made himself available, with it stated the Tottenham man will be ‘finalising his return to Spain’ at present. That will be ‘resolved in the next few weeks’.
He knows he will have too much ‘free time’ if he remains at Spurs and instead wants to finish the season at a La Liga club where he can again play a ‘leading role’.
