PSV Eindhoven chief Marcel Brands has hailed Tottenham forward Richarlison, insisting he could be playing at Paris Saint Germain or Bayern Munich “tomorrow”.
Richarlison is currently shining at the World Cup, where he has two goals in two games for Brazil as their first-choice number nine.
It’s the latest landmark in a busy year for the Brazilian, who, after fighting to keep Everton in the Premier League last season joined Tottenham in a €58m deal in the summer.
He’s not quite replicated his form for the Toffees, where he managed 53 goals and 14 assists in 152 games for the club, but has earned himself plenty of fans at Spurs, nonetheless.
Many have backed the 25-year-old to eventually shine under Antonio Conte, who is known to get the best out of players like Richarlison.
One man who is certainly a fan is Marcel Brands, who brought the forward to Goodison Park as one of his first major signings when working as Director of Football at Everton.
Indeed, he is arguably one of the Dutchman’s best signings from his spell on Merseyside, and he is full of praise for his former signing in a conversation with NOS.
“He has everything to be a top striker,” he said.
“He has length, speed, he is agile, can play in all positions in attack and is technically good. He can head exceptionally well, has tremendous jumping power and excellent timing in the air.
“He is also someone who works very hard for the team and still gets his return.
“Every goal he celebrates like it’s the winning one in the World Cup final, you see that at Tottenham too. That’s why he plays matches, to score goals. People often forget, but he works really hard. He is everything you want in a striker.
“He has become a man as a young player. He was already physically strong but has become much stronger and his will to score has developed even further.
“He could be playing at Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich as early as tomorrow.”
