Mads Bidstrup has made 14 appearances for Brentford since joining them from RB Leipzig in 2020.
In the winter 2022 market, the Bees let the midfielder join FC Nordsjælland on a loan deal. His temporary stay with the Danish club was further extended until the end of this season during the last transfer window.
The Brentford owned player has been a regular for Nordsjælland this season, where he has made 14 starts in the league.
His performances has seen Danish football expert, Kenneth Emil Petersen, suggest the 21-year-old is the player that FC Copenhagen are missing.
Tipsbladet interviewed the Denmark U21 international and asked him for his views on the possibility of moving to Copenhagen.
“Of course, I am happy to be linked with a big club like FC Copenhagen. There’s nothing wrong with that,” he said.
Bidstrup had a spell time at Copenhagen’s academy earlier in his career. His past ties with them will have no bearing now and his focus remains on impressing for Nordsjælland so that he can find his way into Thomas Frank’s plans at Brentford.
“I also have a past at FCK, so I know about it. It’s not something I can relate to right now. I’m so happy up here and at Brentford. So, my first priority is to do so well here so I can play my way into the Premier League club,” Bidstrup explained.
“I have of course been in a really good period, I think. A defensive six that’s what I am. I myself look up to Zeca [Copenhagen midfielder] a lot as I think he is a really great player. One day I want to be as good as him. I also think that we possess many of the same qualities without saying that we are the same player. In relation to a defensive six, I can understand that people are looking my way.”
