Wolverhampton Wanderers are yet to appoint a new manager after sacking Bruno Lage earlier this month.
For the past few days, various reports have mentioned Julen Lopetegui as one of the main targets for the Premier League side.
On Thursday, we covered claims made in the Spanish press that Wolves are keen to hire the 56-year-old.
It was also suggested the ex-Real Madrid boss can help the English club to change things around at Molineux.
Sevilla lost 4-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday and the La Liga side confirmed Lopetegui’s exit minutes after the tie. Supporters at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium gave a warm send-off to their outgoing manager.
ABC Sevilla cover it in today’s newspaper and state the reaction from the home fans shows the Basque coach has ‘not become the villain’ for them.
The Andalusian club have lined up Jorge Sampaoli as Lopetegui’s successor, while the report also mentions where the latter could move next.
It’s claimed that Lopetegui seems to ‘have found a new project in the Premier League’.
They don’t mention Wolves but taking into account they are the only English club credited with an interest, one can assume the Spaniard could be Lage’s replacement at Molineux.
