Wolverhampton Wanderers have endured a difficult start to the season, managing one win from eight games. This saw them sack Bruno Lage on October 2nd.

Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui has been pushed forward as one of the contenders for the Premier League side.

La Razón have a short update on the 56-year-old. They state Wolves think about Lopetegui, who could be shown the exit door by the La Liga side in the coming days.

Over at Marca, they explain the English club are ‘aware’ of Lopetegui’s situation with his current employer, thanks to their close ties with Jorge Mendes.

It’s claimed Wolves are ‘willing to hire’ Lopetegui once he parts ways with the Andalusian club. They have identified Corinthians’ Vítor Pereira and Carlos Carvalhal, who recently left Al-Wahda, as alternatives to the Spaniard.

According to La Colina de Nervión, Lopetegui emerged as an option for Wolves due to his situation at Sevilla and his good relationship with Jorge Mendes. The super-agent himself is a partner of Carlos Bucero, who is the former Real Madrid manager’s representative.

The Basque coach’s exit from Sevilla will be made official after their clash against Borussia Dortmund later today. His future is edged towards England since he cannot manage a new team in La Liga this season.

La Colina de Nervión explain the arrival of Lopetegui at Molineux ‘could be the necessary shock to reverse the bad dynamics in which the squad is immersed’ at Wolves.

Sevilla, for their part, are said to be closing in on appointing Jorge Sampaoli as their new manager. He is set to arrive in Spain on Thursday.
