Tottenham were one of 17 teams to scout Porto’s clash with Braga on Friday evening, with defender David Carmo likely the focus of their attentions.
A Bola report that Tottenham were one of a huge group of clubs to send scouts to watch the clash, which Porto won 4-1.
The newspaper makes no mention of who they were there to scout but we believe it is likely that defender David Carmo was the focus of their attention.
That’s because back in May we covered a report from A Bola that stated Tottenham had opened negotiations to sign the defender when he was at Braga.
They were said to have been convinced by him after several scouting missions, and reports in England had made it clear he was a target.
A move never happened, and he instead decided to join Porto but Tottenham have been regular attendees at Porto, with Record and A Bola reporting back in August that they were in the stands to watch a 3-0 win over Sporting.
That would suggest it is a Porto man they are interested in and given the previous links; it would make sense.
If he was the focus of their mission, they’ll likely have been a little disappointed, with O Jogo giving him a 6/10 and Record a 3/5 for his performance. In other words, nothing to write home about.
The fact is, though, Tottenham had a man in attendance and clearly have someone at Porto on their radar ahead of the January transfer window.
