This week, reports from the South American media claimed Manchester City are interested in Millonarios winger Daniel Ruiz Rivera.
It was claimed by Directv Sports that the Premier League sides were one of the clubs who had scouts see him in action in a cup final against Junior Barranquilla.
With no information on what Manchester City thought of the 21-year-old’s performance, the story only wondered if his display was good enough to increase the interest from Pep Guardiola’s side.
Now as Infobae comes up to cover Directv’s claims, they actually make it very clear that Ruiz didn’t have a great game.
“The bad thing about these visits is that they came on one of his worst days,” Infobae writes.
“Even such was his disappearance on the pitch, that a part of sports media began to doubt whether Daniel Ruiz really is a jewel in the rough or if his magic has already run out.”
Speaking of his good displays this season, the outlet writes: “Perhaps that version of Ruiz was the one the scouts wanted to see, but it was not seen anywhere.”
According to Directv’s original report, the likes of Benfica and Red Bull Bragantino had scouts watching the youngster’s performance as well.
Manchester City and the City Group certainly have a scouting plan which won’t just evaluate the player for one single game. Now in case they considered this match to be decisive in their pursuit for the player, then it looks unlikely they’d actually go for his signing.
