Celtic face Real Madrid on Tuesday evening at Celtic Park in what is a huge match for Ange Postecoglou’s side. There’s no greater test than facing the Champions League holders, and Celtic will hope that their home crowd can get behind them.
There could have been no better preparation for the match than Celtic’s 4-0 victory over Glasgow rivals Rangers at the weekend, and that will obviously build some huge confidence ahead of this big test.
Of course, the Spanish media is heavily covering the match, and AS give their take on Postecoglou’s team. They explain how Liel Abada took centre stage against Rangers, and praise Jota’s beautiful goal, but it’s another player named the ‘great revelation’ of Celtic.
That’s 21-year-old Matt O’Riley.
AS say the youngster follows a pattern of Celtic being able to find high quality youngsters in markets which others don’t focus on as much.
The Spanish newspaper adds: ‘He is physically very powerful, he is about 1.90 tall, and he has a very fine kick with his left leg. Last Saturday he gave two assists in the resounding victory against the ‘enemy’ Rangers; one of them, for Jota, was wonderful.’
Then they move on to Celtic’s ‘weakness’, and that’s said to be defence.
AS feel that whilst the club’s defenders may work well at domestic level, they’ll struggle when it comes to facing the best Europe has to offer.
