Filip Kostic has admitted he was always going to join Juventus this summer, despite interest from West Ham United.
Kostic completed a move to Juventus earlier this month, joining in a €12m deal from Eintracht Frankfurt after months of speculation about his future.
Before his move to Turin, he had been heavily linked with a move to West Ham, who were keen to add a winger to their squad and had focused on Kostic.
Several reports in Germany made it clear they were willing to match Frankfurt’s demands for the player and even significantly improve his wage packet to convince him to move to the London Stadium.
At one point it appeared that a move was likely, but the player instead ended up at Juventus when they quickly accelerated negotiations to steal in ahead of West Ham.
Kostic has now been asked about the situation by Tuttosport and the Serbian has admitted there was only one place he was going this summer.
“I admit that I didn’t personally follow the negotiations step by step,” he told the newspaper.
“But I wanted to come to Juventus, and I did everything I could to make it happen. I’ve been following Juve since I was a kid, as well as all of Serie A.
“My job is to provide the best balls to the strikers. I’m here to be at the disposal of the coach and the team in every respect.”
