In case you had forgotten about him, Tiemoué Bakayoko remains a Chelsea player, currently out on loan at Milan.
The Frenchman was sent on a two-year deal to the Serie A side, and there was hope that this would be the last the Blues saw of him, as the Italians could then make the move permanent.
None of that went to plan, however, as Stefano Pioli didn’t really connect with the player, who ended up featuring in a bit-part role in their title winning season.
The now 27-year-old featured just 18 times in all competitions last season, and there have been rumours circulating for a few months that Milan could try and cut the deal short and send him back to Chelsea.
An article from April 21st in Gazzetta dello Sport claimed the player was likely to return to Stamford Bridge as there should be no more room for him in Pioli’s plans.
Well, it appears there are some talks underway in Milan at the moment, as TuttoMercatoWeb report the player arrived at Casa Milan a bit earlier on Wednesday, and he ‘could leave’ a year earlier.
In fact, there is expected to be news ‘in the next few hours’, providing that ‘other topics relating to next season are not discussed’.
It is made clear in the headline, however, that Bakayoko is ‘not part of the Rossoneri club’s plans’, suggesting this all might have to do with working out how to send him back to Chelsea for as little as possible.
