Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira had, last night, his last match for Flamengo.
To make it all more dramatic, the midfielder scored the winner in their 1-0 victory away at Tolima in the first leg of Copa Libertadores’ round-of-16.
The 26-year-old had a word with the Brazilian media after the match, and with the Rio de Janeiro side not taking a final action to sign him permanently, there were a lot of questions about his chances of staying at the club.
Andreas made it clear he’d like to play for Flamengo for longer, and basically made a declaration of love for the club.
Then he claimed his future lies in the hands of Manchester United’s, who may not agree to his requests.
“About my future, my relationship with Flamengo has always been very good. The group has always treated me very well. This year was incredible despite not winning titles. If it really doesn’t work out. I love the club, I love Flamengo, I’m Flamengo. It’s certainly not a farewell,” said Pereira (via O Dia).
“I don’t own my nose. Manchester United decide these things too. I’d like to stay, but it’s not in my hands 100%. I’ll see what’s best for me and the club.”
“I was focused on the game. I told my agent: ‘Leave me alone, I want to win the game’. I’m going to celebrate with my teammates. When I arrive in Brazil, I’ll talk to everyone and solve it.”
Recent reports from Brazil have been claiming that Manchester United have an agreement with Fulham for Andreas to be sold to the London side.
Meanwhile, Flamengo also had a deal with the Red Devils to get the signing done for €10m, but seem to have given up on it.
