Chelsea are the team ‘best placed’ to sign Ousmane Dembele this summer, should he leave Barcelona as expected.
That’s according to Marca, who say Thomas Tuchel is ‘pushing’ for his club to sign the Frenchman on a free transfer.
They explain that Dembele believes it is hard for him to remain at the Camp Nou at this point, with his contract set to expire next Thursday.
He has an offer on the table from the Catalans, but it does not meet his financial expectations, and Barcelona are not going to improve upon it.
That’s something the player is now realising, even though manager Xavi wants to keep him, so he will begin to evaluate his offers with his agents next week.
One of those will be from Chelsea, who are ‘best placed’ among those interested at this moment in time.
Their interest is being driven by Tuchel, who worked with Dembele for a brief period at Borussia Dortmund and would like to reunite with him at Chelsea.
He ‘knows his potential’ and wants to help him harness that at Stamford Bridge following an injury-hit and disappointing spell in Spain.
PSG are also interested, and their new sporting management haven’t ruled out a bid either, but it is Chelsea who are at the front of the queue.
