Newcastle United want Alessio Romagnoli and seem to be ‘serious’ about signing him this summer, according to Radiosei, relayed by La Lazio Siamo Noi.
The defender’s contract at AC Milan expires in less than a week and he will be a free agent from July 1st.
Earlier reports coming out of Italy explained Lazio are set to be the 27-year-old’s next destination.
He is currently in Anzio, where he met César, the former Biancocelesti player. They were pictured together and it’s been doing rounds in the social media. Due to this, the Serie A side’s fans went crazy about the possible arrival of the centre-back.
Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito has proposed an offer to the Italy international that includes a salary of €2.8m per year. However, Newcastle wanting Romagnoli has made the leaders of the Rome based club ‘tremble’, and Maurizio Sarri even more.
That’s because the Magpies are serious about the defender and would be ready to offer him an annual salary of €4m. For Romagnoli, the report explains it is ‘impossible not to be attracted to the idea’ to join Eddie Howe’s side given such a proposal.
Romagnoli is now divided between the tempting proposal from Newcastle and his love for Lazio.
