The idea that Paris Saint-Germain have instructed Jorge Mendes to see if he can find a place for Mauro Icardi at Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer has returned.
That’s courtesy of Calciomercato.it, who back up a previous report there could be a potential deal on the cards for Wolves if the market doesn’t open up.
We covered a report last week that stated PSG had given Mendes a remit to find a club for Icardi, who is on the list of players they’d be happy to move on.
CM.it have the same information in an exclusive today, stating PSG want to ‘get rid’ of the Argentine, with the spark never really being there between him and the French giants.
He’s gradually faded away, and the Ligue 1 champions want rid but finding a suitor for him is no easy feat as he does not have a ‘flourishing market’ of options.
That’s led PSG to ‘set Jorge Mendes in motion’ to see is a move to Wolves, for example, is possible thanks to the Portuguese agent’s ‘very solid relations’ with the club.
The belief is that they ‘could be a possibility’ for Icardi as they would allow him to kickstart his career, even if they are considered ‘second-tier’ in the Premier League.
The Argentine striker would only be interested in the deal if something better does not come up, but at the moment, nothing appears to ‘be on the horizon’.
That gives Wolves a chance of getting a player in need of a relaunch, with Mendes potentially capable of working his magic to get a decent deal for all parties.
