Manchester City defender Ko Itakura is on the verge of a move to Borussia Monchengladbach after returning from a loan deal at Schalke.
That’s according to Sport 1, who say the German club are close to finalising a deal after talks with his agent.
They report that the 25-year-old is ‘likely’ to join his second Bundesliga side after Gladbach’s sporting director Roland Virkus moved ‘decisively closer’ to each other.
According to their information, Itakura has a four-year contract ‘ready to be signed’, although the deal is not yet finalised as the last details on the move have to be dealt with.
Eintracht Frankfurt and Hoffenheim were also in the running for his signature, with the defender set to leave Manchester City after returning from a successful loan deal at Schalke.
They’ve been overtaken by Gladbach, though, who are close to sealing an important signing that will close a big hole in their current squad.
There’s no mention of a deal being in place with Manchester City, but that’s not likely to be a problem, with them more than happy for the Japanese defender to depart.
