Leicester City’s Çağlar Söyüncü has ended up in the sights of several top European clubs and the list includes Chelsea.
AS state the centre-back is ‘an option for Real Madrid’, even though they have a deal in place with the Blues’ outgoing defender, Antonio Rüdiger.
Los Blancos ‘asked about the conditions’ to sign the 25-year-old ‘on the instructions of Emilio Butragueño’. The report also mentions Chelsea interest in the Leicester City player.
It’s claimed the Blues, Manchester City and Juventus ‘intend to sign him’ this summer. The defender’s contract with the Foxes runs down in 2023 and it’s stated he’s worth €40m.
Apart from Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Juve, AS add that Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are also interested in the Leicester City defender. The Catalan club already tried to sign the Turkey international, when he was Altınordu between 2014 and 2016.
Söyüncü’s former agent, Mustafa Dogru, has now backed him to leave Leicester City and join a club like Barca or Chelsea in the summer window.
“It is possible that Çaglar can go to play for Barcelona this summer. Barca already wanted to sign him when he played for Altınordu,” Dogru told AS.
“We have negotiated with them, and they had presented a project. But we thought that he should go to a team where he is a permanent starter, for him to develop properly. For this reason, we decided to accept the Freiburg proposal.
“I think clubs such as Liverpool, City or Chelsea have the power to sign Çaglar Söyüncü in the Premier League due to their economic conditions, but we must not forget French teams. PSG could be a surprise.”
