Following reports regarding Newcastle United’s chase for Atletico Madrid fullback Renan Lodi, the Brazilian media now features an interesting update on this pursuit.
Globo Esporte writes that the 24-year-old is already aware of the Magpies’ interest, and behind the scenes, he’s been ‘in favour’ of a move to the Premier League side.
It’s said Newcastle have already signalled their interest and now ‘analyse’ the signing, as there’s no official offer submitted for now.
The Magpies are said to be looking for a left-back in the summer, and Lodi is said to be one of the names on the table. Globo Esporte points out the club are still to take a decision on the buying option for Matt Targett.
Newcastle, however, are reportedly not alone in the race, as Inter Milan are also interested in the player. And since he has Italian passport, that would make things easier for the Nerazzurri.
Globo Esporte does not say how much the Magpies are willing to spend on Lodi. Recent claims from Italy said the Premier League side were ready to offer €25m for the signing.
