Manchester United icon Jaap Stam says he would be open to a return to Old Trafford in any if it were offered to him.
Staam is considered one of Manchester United’s greatest players, making 127 appearances for the club between 1998 and 2001.
That three-year spell saw him establish himself as one of the best central defenders in Europe, winning three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Champions League and Intercontinental Cup before his move to Lazio.
He went on to enjoy spells with AC Milan and Ajax after that before starting his managerial career in 2009 as caretaker boss at PEC Zwolle.
He’s since had spells at Jong Ajax, Reading, Feyenoord and FC Cincinnati, whom he left in 2021 after 47 games in charge.
He’s currently on the hunt for his next role, whatever that may be, and amid talk of another Dutchman, Erik Ten Hag, reportedly taking charge at Old Trafford, he has admitted he would be open to returning.
“In principle, I am open to any role at Manchester United,” he told Voetbal Primeur.
“I have enjoyed working and living there, and I owe a lot to the club. If I can help Manchester United in any way, I’m open to it, provided it’s in a role that suits me.”
