The Italian press’ determination to send Keita Baldé to Manchester United is rather impressive.
Ever since Jorge Mendes was brought in by Lazio to try and get as much money as possible for the Senegalese international, José Mourinho’s side have been thrown into the mix, because, well, Jorge Mendes.
Il Tempo on Wednesday have an article on the player, with Simone Inzaghi half-hoping his forward’s national team fail at the African Cup of Nations so he can get him back earlier, and talk of the potential transfer was too tempting to not include.
The Italian newspaper claim that Manchester United are ‘looking for a young and quick winger’, and that Lazio’s Baldé would be the ‘ideal man’ for the job.
What they seem to forget is that, right now, Manchester United have Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard all capable of providing that, while Juan Mata is also deployed there.
We could also add Memphis Depay and Ashley Young to that list, but their lack of appearances suggest they won’t be part of José Mourinho’s plans for much longer.
Frankly, it seems a new winger is the last thing United need right now, but that’s just us.
