With Paul Pogba more than likely to leave on a free in the summer, Manchester United are going to have to replace the Frenchman.

Whether they do so by also signing someone for no fee, with the likes of Corentin Tolisso and Franck Kessié out of contract from June onwards, remains to be seen, but the likelier solution would be to spend on someone.

The favourite over the past couple of years has been Sergej Milinković-Savić, currently at Lazio, who presents similar physical attributes and an eye for goal from midfield, but all the rumours have never led to anything concrete.

Considering the need for a new midfielder (or two) at Old Trafford these days, another summer of seeing the Serbian linked with a move to the Red Devils can be expected, and Antonio Cassano appears to be getting ahead of the curve this week, deciding to say something nice about someone for once in the process.

Speaking to Bobo TV on Twitch, the former Real Madrid player said, relayed by La Lazio Siamo Noi: “Two years ago, I said to wait. This year, the great credit goes to the manager. It’s true that he had a lot of difficulties, but Milinković-Savić is the player who is giving the most out of all. He’s complete.

“He can play for Bayern Munich, and not as a rotation option. Also in Manchester United.”

The 27-year-old has almost been ever-present under Maurizio Sarri this season in the league, scoring eight goals and assisting another eight in 26 appearances.
